 Julian Pearce教授简介:

    Julian Pearce教授于1970年获得英国剑桥大学学士学位(Cambridge University),之后在英国东安格利亚大学(University of East Anglia)获得博士学位。Julian Pearce教授现为英国卡迪夫大学及中国地质科学院的名誉教授。他是一位在国际科学界非常知名的地质学家,尤其在岩石学、化学地球动力学演化和大洋物质来源和成因等方面成绩显著,多次获得国际科学奖。他作为首席科学家主持伊豆-小笠原-马里亚纳弧前带的钻探计划(ODP Leg 125),且多次参与西太平洋地区的国际海洋钻探计划,2014年作为首席科学家在日本南部小笠原弧前带进行为期两个月的大洋剖面科学钻探,并取得了丰硕的成果。他在国际顶尖刊物NatureEPSLJournal of PetrologyGCAChemical Geology等刊物发表论文及专著文章超过190篇,文章总引用率超过29000次。其中6篇学术论文引用率超过1000次,论文h指数61i10指数高达100。他的论文数和总引用率和影响力在国际地球科学界屈指可数。

    Julian Pearce教授将地质学和岩石地球化学完美结合,探索出一系列适用于风化蚀变的和变质的岩石及矿物的地球化学判别方法。他在20世纪70年代初提出依据地球化学成分限定岩浆起源的大地构造环境,之后相继建立了玄武岩类、花岗岩类的构造-岩浆判别图解(即全球广泛引用的Pearce图解),极大地发挥了岩石地球化学在大地构造研究中的重要作用。在洋-陆碰撞造山模型建立方面具有很高的造诣。

报告内容:

    In 1984, Julian Pearce and co-workers published methods for using trace element geochemistry to interpret the tectonic setting of granite intrusions. These methods have been much-used for granite fingerprinting (the 1984 paper presently has>6000 citations),developed and applied to economic geology, and also much-debated in terms of their effectiveness. In particular, Förster and co-workers in 1997 compiled a large database to test the 1984 methods and attempted to improve upon them. Now, over 30 years on, Julian Pearce revisits the topic of geochemical fingerprinting of granites. In addition to summarizing the original methods and new developments, he will address the relationships between plate tectonics and granite genesis and hence the petrogenetic basis of granite fingerprinting. He will also examine some of the remaining problems, notably the interpretation of granites from post-collision environments, where lithospheric delamination can lead to complex interactions between mantle-derived magma and hot continental crust which require particularly careful interpretation.
